Shoppers with Wise Wife ground cinnamon need to check which jar they own. A new recall over elevated lead levels covers a larger jar with a different barcode from the one recalled in September 2025.

Daylight Post found that the two notices name the same brand and distributor but identify different products and sale periods. The October 29, 2026 notice covers a 110-gram jar, or 3.88 ounces. Last year's notice covered a 50-gram jar, or 1.76 ounces.

That distinction matters for a spice that can remain in a kitchen cupboard long after purchase. Recognizing the brand or remembering an earlier warning is not enough to identify the latest affected jar.

The latest notice gives a best-before date of April 25, 2027. SLR Food Distribution says the 110-gram product was distributed between September 8, 2025 and June 28, 2026 in 14 states: Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.

The company says consumers should stop using the recalled product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. The notice, published by the Food and Drug Administration, says Connecticut laboratory testing found elevated lead levels.

An old notice can obscure a new warning

The FDA page for the 2025 recall now says that recall has been terminated. That status belongs to the earlier 50-gram product. It does not cancel the new recall of the 110-gram jar.

The older notice covered distribution from February 15, 2024 to June 28, 2025 in seven states. The two distribution periods and barcodes establish why the latest warning cannot be treated as a repost of last year's notice.

No illnesses had been reported when the company issued the October notice. Lead exposure can still be harmful without producing obvious symptoms, and the absence of reported illness does not change the recall instructions.

For households checking a cupboard now, the latest warning's key combination is a 110-gram Wise Wife ground cinnamon jar, UPC 0688474302754 and an April 25, 2027 best-before date.
