We get on a busy London tube, and I sit down while husband stands at the doors. Husband is grinning at me, trying to get my attention. We’ve now got a little game of him trying to get me to smile at him.
I see in the window reflection opposite me, a woman on my otherside, bashfully smiling and looking his way, everytime husband looks over. Her smile is getting bigger and bigger. I think “oh no! Shes looking like she might go over and ask him for a date”.
I start trying to open my screen saver with him in, flash my engagement ring, start scrolling through photos with us. Sticking my phone out while this happens. Nope, shes firmly looking between her lap and my husband with a grin as big as a Cheshire cat. (I message husband but no signal).
My husband walks over (we’re the next stop) and I see her face in the window getting very animated with excitement, raising herself in her seat… Very very quickly turn to embarrassment and cringe, looking the other way, as she realized this man was walking to me. I get up and kiss him, at the time I thought it might clarify things, but the even greater embarrassed look on her face as we left tells me clarity is not what she wanted. I tell my husband who had no clue and thought it was her own fault “I was clearly looking at you”.
This was the day I learned my husband could have probably got more girls if he was just friendly (he’s normally a grouch).
I used flirting in the title … But I’m not sure if that’s the right word
