UK weather forecast: The Met office has released a Yellow Warning for Tuesday | Weather | News

Despite it being the beginning of June, many across the country have been faced with wintry conditions and on Tuesday that cold and wet weather will continue. The most heavily affected areas will be across the south east and large parts of the Midlands. There will be torrential rain throughout Tuesday with chances of flooding.

Such is the deluge of rain across the country that Met Office Meteorologist Luke Miall has said that a Yellow Warning is in place.

Mr Miall said: “We’ve got a north, south split through this morning, dry across northern parts but it stays wet in the south.

He added: “We’ve had a pretty wet night and that rain is continuing and with the rain we’ve also got some stronger winds.”

Mr Miall explained that across Scotland the winds have strengthened so it will feel quite blustery, with a few showers across northern Scotland generally, but the weather will be dry elsewhere.

He said: “There will be some of sunshine down towards Dumfries and Galloway, also spreading in across Northern Ireland, but for England and Wales it’s a wet old picture to start Tuesday.”

He explained how there will be lots of heavy rain around with yellow warnings in force.

Showers will push their way up from the southeast and they’ll continue to develop through the day but we’ve got to watch out for those because that’s where we’ve got the heavy and persistent rain.

There will be further issues with flooding and also some transport disruption as it turns a bit warmer certainly warmer than it was on Monday.

Mr Miall said: “Across the southeast we’ll see some heavy thundershowers sparking off in the Southwest, but it will stay dry across Scotland and Northern Ireland with some sunshine.”

He added: “As we go through Tuesday evening it stays wet across many central and southern areas.

“There will be heavy rain beginning to push its way back in then across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and into the Midlands.”

The weather outlook suggested that the Northwest of England overnight to Tuesday will be another wet night with yellow warnings.

As we head into Wednesday another frontal zone pushes its way in adding further rain disruption as the week goes.
