Lay’s Potato Chips have been recalled at the highest risk level over fears consuming the product ‘could cause death’.
Federal health authorities have upgraded their previous recall of 13 ounce bags of Frito-Lay chips after voluntarily recalling the Frito-Lay last month over fears the product contained undeclared milk.
The FDA notice read: “Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product,”
Now, the updated risk has been changed to the highest alert, a “Class 1” recall.
The FDA claim that eating the chip could cause “serious adverse health consequences or death.”
The recall was distributed to chips in Washington and Oregon.
Frito-Lay has released a statement that no allergic reactions have been reported at the time of writing. They also noted that no other Lay’s products were impacted.
Any consumers who have purchased the recalled snack must dispose of them, if they have a milk allergy.
The exact chips recalled can by found by a “guaranteed fresh” date of February 11 and a manufacturing code of either “6462307xx” or “6463307xx.”
