Each parent’s greatest desire is for their offspring to be in good health and have a joyful childhood.
Upon the arrival of their son Nathaniel, Karen Rodas and Paul Bybkin experienced only 36 hours of bliss before his passing. He suffered from Polycistic Kidney Disease (PKD), a condition that impacts the kidneys leading to cyst formation and often culminating in kidney failure, which unfortunately was the fate of baby Nathaniel.
In the year 2013, they were bestowed with a daughter named Maddy. Tragically, their worst fears were realized when Maddy was born with the same ailment as her late sibling, leaving her parents devastated. The little girl’s abdomen was so swollen that it bore a resemblance to that of a woman in her ninth month of pregnancy.
Prior to the life-saving procedure, darling Maddy had to endure numerous hospital visits, spending most of her days sleeping for up to 18 hours.
The medical team informed the family that Maddy’s chances of leading a normal life hinged on locating a suitable donor.
Fortuitously, her father turned out to be a compatible match!
“With the impending surgery involving Paul and Maddy, two of my dearest loved ones, my nerves were on edge,” Karen disclosed as per The Mirror.
