Been arguing with someone about if my current scenario is weird/inappropriate. I 21 F has a 16 M brother. He had a Friday night concert with a friend in my city. Instead of going back with the friend he asked me if he could just stay at my place for the weekend since he was already going to be in the city, he doesn’t have school on Monday, and wants to go to an attraction that is near me. So I said sure. I set up a blow up air mattress in my room for him. We are hanging out this weekend and on Monday we are meeting my mom at the attraction he wanted to go to so that she can take him home after. I don’t have a spare room and the living room is shared with my roommates so I don’t want him sleeping out there. The person I am arguing with thinks that it is really weird and inappropriate that I have my brother staying in my bedroom.
edit: the guy I’m arguing with thinks my brother likes me in a romantic way. I very much disagree with this. I have zero reason to believe this. My brother has never flirted or anything with me. I don’t even talk about relationship stuff or anything like that with him. I have my boundaries. He thinks its because my brother hasn’t dated anyone before and because he said he had a blow up mattress to bring and then said he didn’t. My parents used to have one and thought they still did. They couldn’t find it. So i just decided to buy one since they couldn’t find theirs. He also thinks I spend too much time with my brother. Majority of the time is family plans, not one on one. When it is one on one it’s typically because im babysitting him and that’s like once a year. And besides I like hanging out with my brother, family is important to me.
Other thing is because my dad touched me over the shirt once when I was in bed with them at 17, no actual incest. I was just talking to my parents for a little bit I wasn’t sleeping in their bed. The guy I’m arguing with seems to think my whole family is now weird because of that. My brother and I have never had a weird relationship. My dad’s actions are not mine or my brothers. The guy I’m arguing with has had actual incest problems in his family. Although he was not directly involved in it, I still think it has affected his view point on things.
